Problem Context

Slurry pump spools operate in some of the harshest conditions within any slurry handling system. Suction spools must manage vacuum, vibration and installation tolerances, while discharge spools are exposed to high pressure slurry, severe abrasion and constant pulsation from the pump.

Many operations continue to rely on rigid steel spools, expansion joints and multiple fabricated components. While commonly used, these systems often create unnecessary leak paths, vibration issues, difficult installations and accelerated wear. Raised sphere expansion joints can also disrupt slurry flow and typically do not utilise highly abrasion resistant compounds.

A smarter approach is to replace rigid spool sections with flexible Abrasor mining hose assemblies.

By strategically applying Abrasor hose on both suction and discharge connections, sites can reduce maintenance, improve reliability and protect critical pumping equipment.

Our Approach to Improve Slurry Pump Spool Performance

Replace Rigid Steel Spools with Flexible Hose Assemblies

Flexible hose construction absorbs vibration, accommodates movement and reduces mechanical stress transferred into pumps and connected pipework.

Eliminate Multiple Components

Our hose assemblies can replace combinations of steel spools, reducers, bends and expansion joints with a single engineered solution, reducing leak paths and simplifying maintenance.

Advanced Wear Technology

Our proprietary Abrasatech® liner delivers exceptional abrasion resistance in high solids slurry applications, extending wear life compared to conventional rubber expansion joints and steel spool arrangements. For the most severe wear environments, spool assemblies can also be upgraded with ceramic lining technology to further maximise service life and reduce maintenance requirements.

Application Specific Design

Each hose assembly is custom designed to suit the operating pressure, vacuum requirements, slurry characteristics and installation constraints of the application.

Why Our Slurry Pump Spool Solutions Benefit Your Operation

  • Simplified Installation
  • Reduced Vibration Transfer
  • Extended Pump Life
  • Fewer Leak Paths
